    Darn it! I already back up to a NAS, so looks like I'll have to back up my Google Drive before this update happens, and hopefully the most important of my Google Docs files survive.

    Also, Mega had a similar feature to this, but fortunately for me, it isn't enabled by default.

    I like this. Cool idea. I am prepared to have my data mined intensely for heaven knows what use by "them."

    You could select which folders to backup with the current Drive app but those folders had to be in the main drive folder. So technically you had some control over what was synced. But the new app is definitely more flexible although it could also be confusing for some previous users that are not technically inclined. The only concern i have is with the separation between the pictures folder and images in other folders. I would not like all images shuffled together. From the screenshot it looks like Google solved this problem but we need to see it in action to be sure.
